For each number, there are 3 different exercises that progressively get more challenging. When placing the pieces, children will recognize that the dots indicate which number is missing. Filling out the table is the step toward writing the number decompositions. The number of cards shows how many different decompositions are possible. Depending on their skill level, some children may find only a few decompositions, while others can even start structuring them.
The colors of the numbers are based on Maria Montessori's colors.

This material is very comprehensive. Printing everything is probably best suited for schools. In private settings, I would recommend choosing a few numbers to start with. If children have difficulty transitioning from concrete material to abstraction, this material can be very helpful.
